Doing research today, particularly focusing on old Colorado legends, and I found a story about a woman nicknamed Rattlesnake Kate. Apparently she killed 140 rattlers in a day, a good portion using a metal “No Hunting” sign when she ran out of bullets. She then proceeded to skin them and turn them into a dress. Later she opened a snake farm.

Given that I found this story in one of those questionably researched, self-published books you find in roadside gift shops, I figured it had to be a little oversold, right? So off to the internet I went and. Nope. Not oversold. There’s pictures. The dress is now in a museum.

Saw this post a while back and realised, wait. I’m in Colorado. And today I had the time to drive up to Greeley to see it.

Not only did she make the dress, but she also made a headband with 37 rattles on it, and covered the shoes with snakeskin and rattles, so it all matches.

The museum also has the gun she used, although not the “No Hunting” sign.

She’s buried in nearby Platteville, under the name “Rattlesnake Kate”, by her request.

In Jan 2022, the Denver Center for Performing Arts premiered a musical about Rattlesnake Kate composed by Neyla Pakarek, who used to sing in the Illumineers

Panel 6. close up on Miles' face, still confused but now in a different way. he says, "?? this is spider-woman merch"

continued from panel 5, snapshots of the trans flag items prove to be merch. the gloves are fingerless, and on the back have pink and blue stripes, but on the palm have webbing printed. the socks look like the flag on top, but the feet of them mimic Gwen's ballet slippers. The earrings are a pair-- one striped pink and blue with web patterning, the other a symbol of the spider-woman eyes. panel 6. Miles, out of frame, continues "also yes I am trans. what does that have to do with YOUR trans child." Close on Peter's face, who looks utterly exhausted and unimpressed by Miles' deductive reasoning.

bonus panel of previous comic. Gwen stands in casual clothing, which is noticeably colored like the trans flag. she looks off screen, slightly outraged, as she says "DAD ITS NOT MY FAULT THE TRANS FLAG COLORS GET MISTAKEN FOR SPIDER-WOMAN MERCH." there is an asterisk by "not my fault" with a note at the bottom of the image which reads "it is in fact her fault"

this looks so fake. this horses skull is bigger than the dudes entire torso. this horses NECK is thicker than the dudes entire BODY.

and then at the opposite end of the spectrum you have shit like this shetland pony which ALSO looks fake

what the hell happened to this thing who bred this line of ponies to be so ridiculous

fun fact, while most mini horses and ponies look fat, like the shetland above, some are genuinely just scaled down versions of regular horses

you look at this and think “wow that’s a horse i bet I could ride that” but you’d be wrong because this is an american shetty and it’s the size of a large dog
